Hillock English Medium Pre & Primary School is a residential school dedicated to serving children from low-income families in Mkongaijinyu Village, Kisiwani Ward, in the Same District of Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania.
Supported by Pamoja Afrika, the school is more than just a learning center — it's a growing movement to redefine what education can look like in rural communities. We offer a holistic approach to education that nurtures creativity, emotional well-being, and curiosity. Our students learn not only through books, but also through nature, music, arts, and hands-on experiences that prepare them for life in a changing world.
π¨ We integrate traditional arts, music, and creative expression into the learning process
πΏ We use the natural environment as a living classroom
π€ We foster supportive, trusting relationships between teachers and students
π± We empower students to grow with confidence, resilience, and joy
Currently, Hillock provides high-quality education from Pre-K to Grade 6, with plans to add Grade 7 in January 2026.
Our dedicated team includes:
π§πΏ 83 enrolled students
π©πΏπ« 8 teachers
π² 2 chefs
πΏ 1 gardener
To accommodate all students and staff, we've divided our 4 existing school buildings into 8 functional rooms, which currently include:
π§πΏπ« 1 room used as the teachers’ office
π€ 1 room used as a sleeping space for nursery children
π 6 rooms used as Classrooms 1 to 6
We are now working to complete one full new classroom before January 2026, to welcome our very first Grade 7 students.
The journey doesn’t stop there. Our long-term plan is to build one new classroom every year, expanding gradually to include secondary school, high school, and eventually a full educational institution.
This will allow students to continue their learning journey all the way to the launch of their future careers, grounded in both practical and theoretical knowledge developed throughout their time at Hillock.
We are actively seeking long-term and short-term partnerships with individuals, educators, organizations, and supporters who are:
β¨ Passionate about education and youth empowerment
𧱠Ready to support with resources, infrastructure, or skills
π Interested in creating a lasting impact on the lives of children
